How does GrillGrates Improve the Grilling Experience?

GrillGrates products are designed to sear and sizzle foods better than traditional grills. They can improve gas or charcoal grills’ performance by reducing charring caused by flare-ups and accentuating searing. Traditional grates allow juicy fat to drip down into the open flame, leading to flare-ups and overall drier meat.

On the other hand, GrillGrates are designed to slowly drain out through small holes in the grate’s valleys. This slower process allows the juices to steam and boil, giving the meat more flavor and less char.

Grill masters that use GrillGrates love that their food comes out juicier, tender, and way more flavorful. Basically, grillers love that they make their cooks way tastier– and way easier.

What Makes cooking with GrillGrates Different from the Existing Grates on your Grill?

Traditional grills allow flames to come into direct contact with the food and often result in fat drippings falling away.

The patented raised rails and bottom plate of GrillGrates block flames from directly touching the food, and at the same time also concentrate and even out the grill’s heat. They work as heat injectors, allowing you to sear meat with precision!

GrillGrates are made with anodized aluminum, so they conduct a ton more heat than traditional grates and never rust. While some cookware types are actually unsafe to cook on, anodized aluminum cookware has been tested and found to be safe by the Clemson University Extension’s Home and Garden Information Center.

You can use GrillGrates directly on top of your grill surface or replace them altogether. If you replace them, just keep in mind that your grill will run much hotter than before, making it much more efficient than the standard grates.

The versatile grill surface allows you to grill virtually any food directly, even eggs!

Which GrillGrates and Kick Ash Basket Products Work Best Together?

Grilling accessories from GrillGrate help you cook with even heat, just like our signature product, the Kick Ash Basket.

At Kick Ash Basket, we’re also all about making cleanup as easy and painless as possible. By pairing our products with GrillGrates, you can cut down on cooking and cleaning time, giving you more time to eat and mingle with others. Cleaning and caring for your GrillGrates is incredibly easy, and you actually want to avoid overcleaning your GrillGrates to allow for them to season– just as you would with a cast iron skillet.

The Kick Ash Basket and Kick Ash Can combo allows you to shift out and collect excess ash from your charcoal grill. Pair your charcoal grill with the appropriate GrillGrate, a Kick Ash Basket, and a Kick Ash Can for a fantastic sear, in addition to a quick and easy cleanup afterward.

Because GrillGrate is so good at regulating temperatures, it’s a great way to improve the temperature control of your grill when you’re slow cooking as well. Combine it with our Kick Ash Can turned at 180º to create a low and slow oasis for your favorite brisket and rib recipes. Likewise, the Kick Ash Basket gives you more precise temperature control for a quick and easy grill session.

Our Kick Ash Grate Hook and Kick Ash Super Lifter are also perfect pairings with your GrillGrate. They make grate removal easy and safe, whether you decide to use your GrillGrate on top of your existing grate or choose to replace it altogether.

GrillGrates on Charcoal Grills

It’s best to wait until the coals burn down and your grill has preheated 10 to 15 minutes before you place the GrillGrate on it. Allowing the coals time to burn beforehand prevents the seasoning on the GrillGrate from burning off. Waiting to add it will improve the flavor of food and overall performance of the GrillGrate.

GrillGrates work the same on charcoal grills by protecting food from flare-ups and allowing juices to sizzle just below the food for juicier and more tender meat, especially when grilling chicken and pork chops. It will also improve the sear on your steaks and allow you to do more direct grilling, rather than relying on indirect heat.

Other Awesome Products From GrillGrates

GrillGrates now also provides grills for your air fryer! Using GrillGrates in your air fryer means you can enjoy those lovely sear marks on your steak year-round, even after you’ve put your Kamado Joe away for the season. GrillGrates for air fryers can be used rails up like a grill or rails down with a bit of olive oil like a skillet.
